LOCAL AND PERSONALS FROM CASTELLOW TOWN. JONES. JULY 24 — Miss Airene WILLIAMS of this town visited her sick couison, Miss Kate WILLIAMS at Wellwood. Misses Lucile and Mildred JACOCKS visited their cousins, Misses Catherine and Ella JACOCKS.
REIN; JULY 26 — Mrs. Myra HACKLE of Trenton was called to the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Jno. H. JACOCKS last Thursday. MRS. JACOCKS died early Friday morning and was buried Saturday morning at ten o’clock at the JACOCKS family burying ground. She had been in very feeble health for more than a year and her death was not unexpected. She leaves four sons, several grandchildren, two sisters and many other relatives and friends to mourn her death.
LOCAL NEWS —
We regret to announce the serious illness of our old friend R. P. COLLIER.
Dr. W. L. DUCKWORTH and Rev. R. P. DUCKWORTH are on the sick list.
Mrs. Edwin WARREN is reported very sick at her residence on Washington street.
Mrs. Pierce DUCKWORTH who has been quite sick at the home of Dr. W. L. DUCKWORTH is improved.
MR. HENRY BULLIFIN died at his home West of town Saturday after a lingering illness. He was buried Monday in the Lebanon Church yard. He was a brother of W. T. BULLIFIN and was well known here.
MISS EMMA HIGGINS — aged 25 years died of consumption at the residence of her father, Mr. W. P. HIGGINS, near Nut Bush on Wednesday at 7 a. m. and was buried on Thursday at Trinity Church, Rev. CLIFTON conducting services.
THE DEATH — of Mr. ROBERT J. SIMPSON occurred at his home on College street Tuesday night after a lingering illness of many months duration. There had been a serious complications of diseases and his death was expected. Funeral services were conducted at the home of the deceased Wednesday morning by Rev. C. W. HUDSON after which the interment took place in Oakwood under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias. He was born in Haywood county forty three years ago and was reared in this vicinity. He leaves a wife and one son, Sheldon SIMPSON.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
Master O’Neill BOMER will be host at a party given in honor of his cousin, Miss Lottie BOMER, of Greenville, Miss., who is visiting in the home of Mr. John BOMER. About 60 friends are invited. Miss Rosa DAVIS will assist him in receiving.
The marriage of Mr. E. R. UNDERWOOD and Miss EVA B. PRESTON, formerly of Brownsville, was solmnized on July 21st in Florence, Texas Rev. J. J. THOMPSON officiating.
Mrs. Joseph W. FOLK of St. Louis is guest of her mother, Mrs. T. E. GLASS.
Miss Eva BOND and nephew, Thomas Bond NEWBORNE are visting in Memphis.
Mrs. T. H. NORVELL of Hanley was the guest of her sister, Mrs. R. Y. MOSES.
John M. CLARK, wife and two children of Jackson are here the guests of his father, S. H. CLARK and family.
Misses Lottie and Cherry BOMER of Vicksburg, Miss., are guests of their aunt, Mrs. John BOMER.
Mrs. J. N. ALVIS has returned to her home in Okla., after a pleasant visit to her father, Dr. W. B. MOORE.
Capt. J. Allen TAYLOR of near Denmark, the oldest ex-Confederate soldier of Haywood county is visiting in the city.
Miss Mary ANTHONY of N. C., a former much admired resident of Brownsville has been visiting Mrs. J. D. ANTHONY.
Miss Lena BARCROFT who is now visiting in Mercer will leave the 15th, accompanied by Misses Marie and Loraine NICKOLLS, for St. Louis and from there to Los Angeles, Calif., to visit her sister, Mrs. G. T. VANCE.
