MR. JOHN BALLARD — of Lauderdale and MISS BETTIE HOLCOMBE, of Nut Bush were united in the bonds of matrimony on last Saturday night, Esq. BOND officiating.
MRS. LEE WOODARD — of Durhamville died on last Sunday morning of pneumonia and was buried yesterday. Mr. WOODARD is very low with the same disease and is not expected to live. The family have the greatest sympathy.
C. T. PARKER — aged 23 years, died at the residence of his father, K. H. PARKER, in the 12th District after a lingering illness of consumption on Sunday night last. He was a youth of much promise and his loss to his family and friends will be always felt.
MR. MORGAN CARVIN — a younger brother of BUN CARVIN, who died the week before, died with the same disease, pneumonia at the family residence near Allen’s on Saturday and was buried Monday at Baptist Zion Church in the 6th District. He was an excellant young man. The family have much sympathy in their double affliction.
MRS. BETTIE WHITEHURST — relict of the late Ben WHITEHURST, died on Friday evening of pneumonia and was buried on Saturday evening of pneumonia and was buried on Saturday evening in the Whitehurst burying ground in District 9. She was 64 years old and leaves six living children, four boys and two girls. Services were conducted by Rev. C. S. SHOLL. Mrs. WHITEHURST was a MISS CHANDLER, of an old Haywood County family.
W. H. BARNES — who was shot by Howell WHITELAW several weeks ago, died Thursday night of last week and his remains were buried at Denmark, Madison County, the following day.
LAST WEEK — we announced the death of MRS. MAGGIE RAINEY at the family residence in Forked Deer. This was a MISTAKE on our part. The lady who died was Mrs. MATTIE RAINEY, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. H. A. RAINEY. She married Mr. T. C. RAINEY about two years ago and was living in Meridian, Miss. when notified of the dangerously illness of her father about four weeks since, to whose bedside she immediately came, bringing with her their only child. She nursed her father and waited on other members of the family who were sick at the time, until she was afflicted with lagrippe, then measles, then pneumonia of which she died.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
Mr. J. W. DEZERN and Miss Emma KING, both residents of this vicinity were quietly married at the parsonage by Rev. R. M. KING on Sunday last.
An event which took place on Thursday the 17th, was the marriage at the Methodist parsonage in this city of MR. CHARLES RICE of this city and MISS MARY WILKES of Lebanon.
A very pretty wedding was solomnized at the Jewish Temple this city, Wednesday at 8 p. m. Rabbi SAMFIELD officiating. The happy couple were Miss Rosa BAUMAN, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. S. BAUMAN and Max KORNIK.
Mrs. Helen TRASK of Chicago is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. H. B. SMITH.
