CROCKETT COUNTY NEWS —
MR. JAS. JENKINS, one of the oldest and most substantial citizens of this district died Sunday night and was buried at the Loving graveyard Monday. His funeral was preached by Rev. Dr. INMAN of Humboldt.
Prof. J. A. McDONALD visited his daughter, Mrs. Chas WILLIAMS in Henderson, Texas this week.
In the removal of A. W. HAWKINS, his sons, Logan, Eldon and Will with their families and Mr. E. JONES to Alabama, this community sustains a great loss. Mr. HAWKINS has bought a large amount of timberland and will engage in the sawmill business.
Mr. D. BRADENBERRY, of Gadsden, has the sympathy of his friends in the death of his nine-year-old girl, which sad event occurred last Saturday.
REIN —
Mr. Rupert COBB near this place is reported being very low with pneumonia. Dr. C. R. TAYLOR was called in consultation with Dr. G. R. THOMAS yesterday. Mr. COBB was first taken with measles a few days ago and then went into pneumonia.
CATALPA —
T. G. STANFIELD has been pronounced insane and sent to Bolivar asylum; probably it would have been better if he had been sent sooner.
MRS. NANCY LAYMAN MITCHELL, AGED 103. FAYETTE, MO. FEB. 14TH — She celebrated her 103rd birthday on the 3rd, died Friday morning of old age. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.
MR. T. J. ESCUE — aged forty-eight years, died at his residence in the Tenth District Friday January 12th of malaria. A wife and ten children survive.
LILLIE — the bright and sweet eight-year-old daughter of MR. & MRS. JAMES CURLIN died at the family residence in the 4th District on the 12th inst., of pneumonia.
WALTER MOSLEY — colored; convicted and sent to the penitentiary about one year ago is reported dead. He was killed by falling slate while at work in one of the state’s coal mines.
MISS MOLLIE McCOY — died on Saturday January 13th of consumption at the residence of Mr. J. H. DEZERN. The deceased was 50 years old.
EARL KEATHLEY OURY — the infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Sam OURY died on the 11th of February at the home of Mrs. J. J. TINSDALE in Hardeman County.
IN MEMORIUM — GEORGE LEE WALKER, son of Garrison and Lucinda WALKER, was born in Alamance County, N. C. March 4, 1848 and died at his residence near Brownsville, Tenn., January 16, 1904. He came to this county in 1869. He was twice married, first on September 3, 1871 to MISS LAVINIA BARCLAY, who was mother of his six children. He was married the second time to MRS. WLIZABETH GREEN on February 7, 1894. He was buried at Tabernacle Sunday evening, January 17th.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
A quiet home wedding was solmnized Monday evening at 7 o’clock at the home of the bride’s aunt, MRS. J. E. CARTER, when MRS. LAURA BROWN and MR. JOHN CLINTON, Jr were married, Dr. SHOLL performing.
