My great-grandfather, Henderson Cox, is buried in the cemetery of the First Methodist Church in Rogersville. He was born in 1822 at Eaton’s Ridge in Kingsport and died in 1888 in Rogersville. He was supposedly living with children Anne and Corny (short for Cornelia?) who were somehow attached to a private girl’s school or academy located in Rogersville until after the beginning of the 20th century. Does anyone know of a private girl’s school that was located in Rogersville? Where can I find out more about it?
