My great-great-great-grandfather, Montgomery Woods lived in Hawkins County, TN in 1850.  He is listed as living with his wife Martha, maiden name not known, and children: Susan Woods (my great-great-grandmother), and several other children listed below.  I am searching for Martha’s maiden name and any other info I can find on this family.  I know that Susan Woods married Isaiah Gammons (born in VA)and, after his death, moved to Arkansas.  She died in 1915 and is buried in Linwood Cemetery, Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas.

My ancestors from Hawkins Co. Tenn. are Philip Smith Hale and Elizabeth Bachman. He died June 2, 1867 and she died July 13, 1891. They are buried on Stanley VAlley Rd near Rogersville, Tn. The old Bachman homeplace is also on the road where they are buried. Another ancestor is Mahalia McCollum Bruner. She married Samuel Bruner 10-12-1826. Mahalia is buried in the Joseph Russell’s graveyard near the Holsten River and the waters of Big Creek. Would anyone know about this graveyard? and are there any markers?

Seeking parents & other info on MORELAND, Richard & Benoni, believed to be brothers or cousins.  Benoni born 1791 in TN; d. 1856 in IN; m. Sinah, a Cherokee.  Richard born about 1798, in Tn, possibly Hawkins Co.  Possibilities for their father include William & Benjamin Moreland (Morelan), of legal age & in the county by 1800.  About 1821 Richard married Nancy J., also a TN native.  He appears on the 1830 census in Hawkins Co with wife, two sons under five and a daughter 5-10.  In 1832 the family moved to Putnam Co, IN.  Other Morelands who moved to IN with Richard were Benoni, Jack, Evan and “Big John.” Evan may be Evan Harris who married Rebecca Moreland.  Also a brother-in-law named Branson (George?).  All except Richard and Benoni migrated to Iowa in the early 1850s.  May be descended from a Quaker Moreland who moved from VA to TN, but haven’t been able to prove or disprove this connection to date.  Have data on Indiana descendants to share, also on Virginia & Ohio Morelands. MOSLEY-BRIDGEMAN:  I am seeking information on the parents of a Mahala MOSLEY, b. November 22, 1822 Hawkins Co., TN; d. December 2, 1912 Dickenson Co., VA.  Mahala married John C. Branham January 6, 1842 in Pike Co., KY.  Information obtained from a book “David Branham and his Descendants” states that she was the daughter of Henry MOSLEY and Rebecca BRIDGEMAN.  It also states that she was the ward of a William Branham.  I have information passed down from my elders, that Mahala was half-blood cherokee and that her mother died when she was 7 years of age (approx. 1829).  However I do not know what happened to her father.  Any information/suggestions, would most truly be appreciated.
