Requesting info on the PATTERSON family of Hawkins County, TN. My gg-grandfather born there around 1836. He married Louis CHRISTIAN, daughter of Lew and Mary CAVIN CHRISTIAN. Alexander PATTERSON listed in 1850 with his mother Elizabeth, brother George, and one other brother. Next door was an older Elizabeth PATTERSON. I believe her to be Alexander PATTERSON’s grandmother. Nash was that he was suppose to have been born there in 1809 according to the census. Can someone help me place him in the correct Tennessee county? My maternal 3rd. great grandfather is Andrew Jackson NASH b. 1809 TN, d. 23 Jun 1854 Carlinville, Macoupin Co., IL, married first Mary Polly MISENHEIMER (daughter of John MISENHEIMER & Mary FOGLEMAN). He married second Mrs. Pacify Tinsey MANN and had son Francis (Frank) Marion Nash). Andrew and Mary had the following children:

There was also a Martha NASH who married 11 Feb 1850 in Montgomery Co., IL to James A. OUTLAW. On the 1830 census of Montgomery Co., IL, was listed Andrew NASH as male 20/30 yrs, 1 female under 5, one female 5/10 and one female 20/30. In 1853, Andrew was indicted for the murder of Alexander LOCKERMAN. Andrew and LOCKERMAN were drunk at a fourth of July picnic and there was a fight. Andrew stabbed LOCKERMAN and left for two years. He was found in Arkansas and brought back to Illinois for the trial. He was found guilty and was suppose to hang. His sentences was commuted to life in prison but there was a riot and he was killed.

WHO WAS HIS FATHER??? ROGERS, Adenstone D., b. 1803, Kyles Ford, TN, d. 1872, Lincoln Co., KY. m.(1st) Elizabeth ROBERTS, dtr of William ROBERTS, Lee Co., VA. m. (2nd) Mary “Polly” BAKER, b. 1816, dtr. of William BAKER and Elizabeth WALLEN, dtr of Elisha WALLEN,II, the Long Hunter. Adenstone named his first son George W. and his first daughter, Mary. He also named a son Commodore and another son Joseph Amis ROGERS. He lived in and around Blackwater, VA, until moving to KY with his sons and their families in the mid-1850’s. There was another Adenstone ROGERS in Hawkins Co., who d. in 1862. We have found no evidence whether they were related or not. Any help appreciated.

Annis Looney, widow of Andrew Ferrel, m. Samuel Mitchell after Andrew was killed during War of Northern Agression. Which Hawkins Co. Looney was Annis’s father? Can not find on census, etc. any help will be appreciated. Samuel Mitchell was son of Wiley Blount Mitchell, grandson of Richard Mitchell.
Jacob Howe m. Elizabeth Groves, came to Hawkins Co. from Cumberland Co.,PA prior to TN statehood in 1796. Elizabeth was daughter of Jacob Groves, also of PA. Looking for fathers of both Jacobs and back. Jacob Howe stated in Rev. War pension application in 1832 that he served in PA line and that he came from Germany at the age of three with his father who died enroute. Any info on ship passenger lists, etc. will be appreciated; Jacob Howe stated he was born about 1756 so would have been 1759/1760 to America. Also looking for military service records/info of Richard Mitchell, signer of TN constitution in 1796 for Hawkins Co., son of Joab Mitchell/Mary Henderson.

I am searching for JOHN ROBINSON b. abt 1820 d. bef 1860. He was married to NANCY WILLIAMS, b. Apr. 27, 1822 , died June 11, 1902. She was the daughter of JOHN WILLIAMS, and his wife RUTH. They had a son named JOHN HARLOW ROBINSON, who was married to TABITHA CAMPBELL. They also had a daughter that was my grandmothers, grandmother. Her name was NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON. She was born in 1839, Hawkins, County, TN. SHe died April 16, 1916, @ Corbin, Whitley County, KY. MIRANDA was also known to go by NANCY, her first name. My grandmother died the day before Christmas eve last. NANCY MIRANDA has been a “strange bird to track”! Apparently she married ELI HOWELL , March 1, 1856, in Jefferson County, TN. She & ELI HOWELL apparently had a son, ROBERT HOWELL. The marriage did not last long [ no divorce has been found to date ]. ROBERT HOWELL was born abt. 1856. However by Nov. 29, 1858 , in GRAINGER COUNTY, TN., she remarried my G/G grandad, DUNCAN HASH [1838/40 -1900/10 ], who had just ended a brief marriage himself, in Whitley Co., KY. ! They are both buried in Corbin, Ky., but even they were seperated in their last years. I believe Nancy Miranda was hiding her 1st child from his father [ ELI HOWELL ]. After she moved to Whitley Co., Ky., with her second husband, she is found in the next county [ Knox Co., KY.} on the 1860 census. They had lived in Grainger COunty, Tn., in Oct. 1859, when my great grandad, JOHN HASH [1859/1935 ] was born. After 1860, the Howell child is not found. I believe Eli Howell “collected” his son. A older brother of my grandmother’s was in his 90’s when he died. He told me of a trip to the Morristown , Tn., area as a very young man. There his father introduced him to a “uncle he had never heard of before”! This uncle was involved in some sort of wood business. Was this the missing child “Robert Howell”? My great uncle could not remember any more info about the meeting. NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON HOWELL HASH went onto have 11 more children with her 2nd husband, most of which migrated to Eureka, California in the early 1900’s. I am looking for this JOHN & NANCY WILLIAMS ROBINSON family, as well as ANY info possible about this missing ELI HOWELL, the son, ROBERT HOWELL, and any thing connected to this enstranged family. I am looking for connections to the Carter LAWSON family. Carter was born in either Lee or Scott County VA in 1815. I think his father was David Lawson. Carter married Malvinia SMITH in 1834. They had: Pleasant 1836, Mary 1838 who married Robert CHILDRESS, Robert 1840 who married Nancy STANFIELD, Arvina 1841 who married Isham STANFIELD, Wesley 1844, David 1845 who married Julia RUSSELL, Alexander 1847 who married Elizabeth EADS, and Winney who married James TURNER. I am looking for rellatives or any info on Rachael ELLIS, born in Hawkins, Tenn in 1835. She married Wm. Thaddeus MOORE in 1855 in Hawkins. Wm. moved to Hawkins when he was a young boy from Raleigh, NC. They traveled to Missouri in 1863. These are my great grand parents. I would like to research their parents. In 1811 Nicholas and Catherine CARRIGER and all of their known children moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. Many of Nicholas’s children later migrated into Greene County, Illinois. Christian and Levicy WARD CARRIGER had fourteen children, all of whom were born in Carter County. In 1842 Christian and Levicy and some of the younger children left Carter County and settled in Independence, Missouri. Nicholas CARRIGER (the son of Christian CARRIGER) became a selfmade historian having documented the events of the CARRIGER family to become the sixth family to “OVERLAND IN 1846″. Other surnames connected to the Carriger marriage in Carter County are: William WARD & ANN VANDERPOOL – Teeter NAVE & Rebecca BOWERS , Isaac & Mary LINCOLN – Daniel & Phoebe STOVER – Mary “Molly” MORRELL – William or MARY FITZSIMMONS.

I am seeking information about Dier (also Dyer, Dire and, perhaps, Obediah) Lawson. He was born about 1799 and the 1860 census indicates his birth place as Hawkins, Tennessee. His wife was Jane (England). Their children included Elizabeth, Iira, Joh, Stokely, Alcey and Enoch. His father is believed to be David but this is what I’m attempting to prove. Any help would be most appreciated.

Searching for the parents of Stephen Nelson CREECH b. 11 Feb 1810 m. Margaret Frances HICKS.
