In the Name of God, Amen.
I, Lazarus Gully of the County of Hawkins and State of Tenn., being of sound and disposing mind and memory, blessed be God, do this first day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty seven, do publish this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First of all. After paying my just debts, I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Nancy Gully all my land and all my other personal property, except one rifle gun.
The colt which the mare is with foal now when foaled is to be the property of my son Nathan.
The rest of the property is to…remain with my wife Nancy during her life or widowhood, for the support of my younger children, namely, Praint, Thomas, Nelson, Isaac, and my daughter Sally Gully.
And if my said wife should marry, said property to be sold and applied to the support of my four children as before mentioned,
and (I) do appoint my loving wife Nancy Gully sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the year and date first written in presence of:
