Watson Family Bible Records

Submitted by Jane Watson Helvering

John Watson came from York County, SC to Hardin County, TN sometime between
1820 and 1830 along with his wife and children.  According to the history of
the Methodist Church in Savannah he arrived as a pioneer Methodist preacher
and soon after the Methodist Church was organized in the area.  As a child,
I remember seeing a paper signed by leaders of a church in South Carolina,
stating his good character and ability to preach the Lord's work.  Sadly,
now, the paper cannot be found among old family records.

John and his wife, Martha, are buried along with other family members in
Watson's Chapel Cemetery, but their graves are unmarked.
