TALLEY, W.P. (d. 1924)
W.P. Talley Dies Following Operation — W.P. TALLEY, age 70, and a prominent farmer of the Griers Chapel community, died in a Dyersburg hospital Friday of last week, following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. TALLEY was apparently in good health and was able to perform his duties until Sunday when he suffered an attack of acute appendicitis, from which he never rallied.
Mr. TALLEY was well known throughout this section, having lived in Gibson county practically all his life. For the past few years he was engaged in truck farming, in which he was successful. Mr. TALLEY was a member of the Poplar Grove church and was a devoted christian man in his every day life.
He was twice married and leaves two children by his first marriage – Mrs. Alvin PATTERSON of Dyer county and Ms. Tom GRADY of near Dyer, and three children by his later marriage — Mrs. Baker ORR of Dyer, Mrs. C. B. NEWBILL of Dyer, and Mrs. R.P. GRIDER of Memphis, all of whom ,with their mother, survive him. Interment was at Poplar Grove cemetery following funeral services.
