Petition
To the Worshipful County Court of Crockett County Tennessee your petitioner ELLA COKER respectfully shows the Court that she was the wife of RICHARD WELLS deceased who departed this life in Lauderdale County on the 12 day of April 1864 at Fort Pillow Leaving the petitioner his widow and WILLIE ELLA WELLS his only child and heir he died intestate and RICHARD SKELTON was his Administrator. At the time of his death, said RICHARD WELLS was seized of a tract of Land in Dyer County now Crockett County Containing 73 1/3 acres adjoining the lands of G. W. FLOYD, R. SKELTON, I. A. FLOYD. Petitioner prays that the said WILLIE ELLA WELLS the heir and JAMES MOORE the Guardian be made defendants to this petition and that dower be assigned her out of said Lands.

Be it remembered that in this Cause it appearing to the entire satisfaction of the Court that WILLA WELLS and JAMES MOORE her Guardian have been notified by the plaintiff of the petition to this Court and as the Law directs which notices are now on file with the Clerk of this Court and their appearing no good reason why the prayer of the petitioner should not be granted It is therefore ordered by the Court that I. A. NUNN, W. N. BEASLEY and JOEL JONES be appointed Commissioners to divide out and set apart and assign Petitioner Dower out of the tract of Land formerly belonging to RICHARD WELLS decd Lying and being in the County of Crockett and State of Tennessee in district No 13 adjoining the Lands of RICHARD SKELTON, G. W. FLOYD, I. A. FLOYD and W. HEATH containing 73 1/3 acres and report this action to the next term of this Court. And it is further ordered that the Commissioners include the Mansion House in the Dower.

This Cause came on to be heard owing to the failure of the Commissioners to make their report and their summery no? objections for the Continuance the same is therefore ordered to be Continued until the next term of this Court.
