GEORGE ALTON a Colored minor orphan was this day brought into Court and by the Court apprinticed to J. W. OSLIN thereupon the said J. W. OSLIN came into Court entered into an obligation for the faithful performance of his duties to said apprenticed and forth payment of one hundred dollars in Currency and to furnish said apprintice with one Suit of Clothes at the expiration of the apprenticship the said OSLIN gave J. H. WESSON as his security on said obligation which being acknowledged in open Court by J. H. WESSON was approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded said minor is about 13 years old.

On motion and petition of Sundry Citizens it is ordered by the Court that Thomas COOK, Thomas GREEN, J. P. PARKER, Henry GREEN, G. W. BOLING, S. H. MIDYETT, E.T. AUSTIN and any five of them be appointed a Jury of View to look into the propriety of changing that part which is known the Ashport road leading from Alamo to Gadsden and Jackson, commencing from the west end of Thomas COOK’s land so as to enter Alamo through the land or Streets between C. F. AUSTIN and J. P. PARKER and say whether said proposed change will damage the public or private individuals and whether or not said proposed change should be made. And report to the present term of this Court.

On Petition M. B. PERMENTER, B. J. PERMENTER et al___it is ordered by the Court that Thomas COOK, Thomas GREEN, J. P. PARKER, T. W. BOWLIN, S. H. MIDYETT and E. T. FOSTER be and they are hereby appointed a Jury of View to examine the property and practicability of changing that part of the Ashport road leading from Gadsden to Alamo so as to run on the line of E. T. AUSTIN and J. P. PARKER and to make such other changes as they may think best and report to this term of Court.

The Jury of View appointed at this term of the Court to view out and change that part of the Ashport road commencing at the West end of Thomas COOK’s land and entering the land between E. T. AUSTIN and J. P. PARKER make the following report:

To the Worshipful County Court of Crockett County, April term as a Jury of View to survey a new road of the Ashport road, beg leave to submit the following report. Commencing on the West end of Thomas COOK’s land runs North with the old line until it strikes the line between Thomas COOK and Thomas GREEN, thence North to a poplar stump. Thence Northwest to the mouth of the lane between Thomas COOK and Thomas GREEN, the changes the Jury made being the north boundary of the road thence through the lane to a corner between Thomas COOK and Thomas GREEN, thence north between Thomas GREEN and Thomas COOK to the corner of J. P. PARKER – thence west to the corner of THOMPSON & PARKER thence north to the street between J. PARKER & E. T. AUSTIN which we have respectfully established believing it to be practicable and the same should be made.
