Frederick Weaver fought at Kings Mountain in 1780. He was born 1759/60 VA. Married in 1782 by Rev. Samuel Doak, in Sullivan Co., TN. Thomas Weaver had brothers Conrad and Abraham Weaver who stayed in Sullivan Co., TN. One of Thomas Weaver's daughter's Catherine Weaver, married William C. Looking for cause (reason) of death for James 'Anderson' McMahan b(ca).1865/67 m. Nancy Elizabeth 'Sissy' McGaha b.1870. My mother Robbie Ginith McMahan Lewis always heard that grandma's bonnet was flying as the family fled by wagon in the middle of the night with her children, William 'Scott'; Bartley Henderson; James 'Edgar'; Elizabeth; Verna; and Charlie Bradford 'Dock' (my grandfather who was only about a year old), and definitley w/o Anderson. Was this because of his involvement with Sarah Giles Bishop. He apparently had a daughter (Rena), with Mrs. Bishop, who died in infancy the same year my grandfather was born. I found this information in a book written by Delmar Baxter with the geneology information from Beth Ogle Freeman -- Winter/Spring. When this book was written the remaining family had assumed Anderson left with the rest of his family. The books information was contributed by Ella V. Costner in Song Of Life In The Smokies, copyright 1971.

My great grandparents were, according family history, mixed. George Washington Lane's father was an Indian "From a western tribe that was known as a 'warrior' type of tribe, and of red skin". His father's name is unknown, and he never married his mother, Catherine Jane Lane, daughter of Phinneas and Jane Scott Lane. My great grandmother, Mary Katherine Phillips, "Kate", was supposedly half Cherokee of Choctaw. Her mother was Unknown Barbee. Both of my gr-grandparents were born and reared in the Cocke Co. and Jefferson Co., areas of TN. The Phillips family lived near Newport, which borders Haywood Co., NC. Any info is greatly appreciated.
