BAILEY
- William M. Bailey born 13 May
1824 Cocke County, TN, according to his Union military papers. Married
Mary Elizabeth Blanchard ca 1845. Wm Bailey and his family are on the
1850,
60, and 70 Monroe County, TN census. Children included: Sarah
Elizabeth,
Charlotte, Mary, John, Sefronia, Emily, William, Margaret, George
Washington,
Leuvenia, Susan & Nancy. This family migrated to Texas where
some are
found in Fannin Co, Tx in 1880. They settled in Montague Co., Tx. and
later
moved to Comanche, Stephens County, Ok. William died Feb 4, 1902.

to John and Elizabeth Thomas Weaver, who came from Sullivan Co., TN.,
prior
to the 1820's. John Weaver was the son of Frederick A. and Catherine
Peters
Weaver, he was born abt. 1786 Sullivan Co., TN. and died abt. 1855
Cocke
Co., TN. Frederick Abraham Weaver, the father of John Weaver was a
veteran
of the Battle of King's Mountain. Would like any information related to
the children of John and Elizabeth Thomas Weaver, one child was
Elizabeth
Weaver, 1818 Cocke Co., TN. and married William C. Click ca. 1850 and
any
other Weaver information. They may have lived in the Cosby area of
Cocke

CLEVENGER, HOOD, LINGFELTER
- My great
great grandmother was Mahala Hood, wife of Elias Clevenger, buried in
Clevenger
Cemetery #1, Cocke Co, TN. She married Elias after having two children
with John Lingenfelter, Theodocia (Eudocia) and Molly. I have never
been
able to figure out exactly what her relationship was with John
Lingenfelter
and his sister, Elizabeth. I just know Mahala & Molly were
living with
them in the 1850 Jefferson Co, TN Census. Both Eudocia and Molly were
named
as John Lingenfelter's heirs after 1870. Eudocia (my great grandmother)
m. Clayborn Mantooth (son of Harriet Mantooth) and Molly married
Pleasant
Lloyd. Mahala Clevenger was living with Pleasant and Molly in the 1900
Cocke Co, TN Census.

- Looking for information regarding
Green Inmann. What is his wife's name? She appears to have died after
the
birth of a son between 1845 & 1850. Any other info on Inman's
would
be great. The inman's are found in the 1850 Cocke Co. tenn cenus
report.
The family name is David and Harriett Dockery that I am researching.

- Looking for
information on John Hunter Clark, married to Mary "Polly" Hood
(daughter of Allen Hood). Lived in Cocke Co. (1832-1873). Had 7
children,
James Allen, Cassandra "Cassie", Juda "Judy" Caroline,
Hugh, Mary, Nancy and Biers Tipton. Joseph Able married Malinda Able,
daughter
of Isaac Green and Sarah Henry. Lived in Cocke County prior to 1861.
Joseph
was born in Greene County and Malinda was born in Cocke County. Joseph
was on the 1860 census in the household of Hezekiah Able and Malinda
was
on the 1860 census in the household of her father Isaac Green. Any
information
on these families would be appreciated.

Lillian Gibson. Ethel married Thomas Redwine the year is unknown. Ethel

- Rains, Phillip- Court
records from 1821 in Cocke County indicate that a Nathaniel Maddux
divorced
his wife Anny, "who left with Phillip Raines and hasn't been seen
since 1821." John Raines was listed as a witness. Does anyone know
who this Phillip Raines is? Could "Anny" have been Mary Ann
Tally/Talley?

spelled Crosslin. I am interested in exchanging any information on the
Crossland family. Samuel and wife Annie(Johnson) Crossland moved to
Cocke
Co. prior to 1798 from South Carolina. Their son Meredith Taylor
Crossland
was born in Cocke Co. approximately 1805-1806 and moved to Tuscaloosa
Co.
Alabama sometime around 1826.

to have been born in Cocke County. She was a 12 year old orphan on 1850
Jefferson County census living in home of J.N. Newman. Do you know her
family?

WORTHINGTON
- I am doing research on my
ggggreat grandfather William Lambert Worthington who was mustered into
the 8th Regiment, Company D , TN Vol. Infantry on 12/20/1862 in Cocke
County.
He was made a 1st Lieutenant in 4/1863. He was mustered out on
6/30/1863.
I am having a very difficult time tracking down his parents and any
family
he may have had in TN. I have discovered that his father was born in
Scotland
and his mother in LA, but that is the extent of my knowledge. Any
information
you may have would be greatly appreciated. If you have any ideas on how
I might continue my research, please point me in the right direction.

- James Alexander Womack, known
as Alexander. He is listed in the East Tennessee edition of the History
of Tn, printed in 1887, as having been born in Cocke County in 1802.
Does
anyone have any access to information that would confirm this? I have
not
seen this book, but have received the data from several people. Any

- Looking for information regarding Robert Gilliand,
Gillaland,
Gilleland.
Robert is believed to be the father of Mary E. Gilliland born October
1871
in Tennessee. Gillilands are prevalent in the 1850 Cocke County
Tennessee
Census. Mary E. Gilliland married Henry Cutshall on 5 June 1888 in
Madison
County, North Carolina. Mary E. Gilliland is my great great grandmother
and any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
