Ben & Onie Womble sold their farm in Polk Co in the mid 1930’s and moved to Cleveland on Church St. Both Onie & Ben died there and are buried down the street in the Calvary Hill Cemetery(?) in the family plot. Ben & Onie had three sons that served in WWII – Clarence served aboard the destroyer U.S.S. McKee – Carl & Claude served in the army. Claude was killed and his remains were brought home one year after his death.
Clarence Womble, my father, moved to Dallas, TX in 1948 for a job, hoping someday to return to his beloved TN.
