SCHENCK
Searching for any information about William SCHENCK and wife Matilda RYAN SCHENCK. Wm came to Cleveland about 1890 and remained in Bradley County til his death. Children Ella May, Horace, Bert. Bert and Ella May graduated from Cleveland High School and both gave commencement speeches (originals in possession). Wm is known to have been a part of building the Broad Street Methodist Church, the Hardwick House, and a Filhauer(?) home. Have photo of Hardwick home. GIDDENS , REV. RILEY ANDERSON
Hello Everyone… Someone stated that they had some Journals or Books belonging to my third great grandfather, Rev. Riley Anderson Giddens, Sr…he was ordained into the Holston Conference of the Methodist Epsiscopal Church in 1842. He had a land grant also in Bradley County. He , his Mother Nancy Giddens and younger sister, Clarenda Giddens m. Isaac Rogers , Al…and younger brother William moved to Bradley Co., from Monroe Co., in or before 1836…when it became finally a county. In 1985 I completed the Giddens Family History, written story form and includes my version of Bradley Co., History along with others. The book is 185 years of this family which includes Allied Families. Some months back a lady who is a Selvidge Descendant like myself…told me she had email from a man , who had a journal , books or documents Rev. Giddens wrote in his own handwriting. My Book has a partial journal of his…this person…I think may have been referring to a trunk owned by a Roark, Joseph. This man owned a larg

West 37 NC NC NC, C. 34 T SC T, Paten 17 T T T nephew. And Jasper Tallent 21 hired hand is listed next door to J. V. West in Calvin Harrison’s household. Can you help me flesh out my West line?

THOMAS
THOMAS family moved to Bradley CO TN in the 1840s from Monroe Co TN. Jacob and Elizabeth were the parents. Jacob died in Bradley Co in 1855, Elizabeth was still alive in 1876 as she applied for a pension in that yr with son, Adam Thomas, signing it. What type of pension would they have applied for? Jacob could not have served in the Rev War as he was bc 1780; I can only think it might have been for War of 1812 service. Where could I find out abt this pension? Jacob and Elizabeth had the following children that raised families in Bradley CO: Wilson & wife, Tresa/ Adam and wife, Lida/ Catherine Waller whose husband Beard was dead by 1850, and possibly a son named William with wife, Marisa (I really thing this may have been a cousin/nephew). Thanks, Bettye

ROGERS, PIS-SAL-LA-TO-KA, ISH-MAN-CHA-HU-BEE, (ISH-MANCHUBBEE, ETC))
Osiyo! I am almost embarrassed to ask about my great(X3) grandfather John ROGERS. He arrived Westville OK about 1835, possibly from Hiwassee district of Cherokee land. He may have married PIS-SAL-LA-TO-KA, daughter of ISH-MAN-CHA-HU-BEE. I don’t know what that is, but it sure doesn’t sound Cherokee!
