In Response To: Re: Daniel Nelson 1840 census (Barbara Wilson Dooley)
Does it give an age or parents for this David M. Nelson ? The reason I ask, I’m wondering if this is the same one. The reason I ask is that he is in WV. He gets out of the army up there. No that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get married here, but it surprises me. I was beginning to believe he was in WV from Feb. 1865 till he dies in 1928. And even though he lists being born in Bradley County, I can’t say I find him in any census for sure. Neither him or Daniel or Sarah are in 1850, 1860 censuses. He gets married again in 1867 which I thought was number 1, she dies and he remarries in 1869. All up in WV. Is there anything else on that marriage, maybe a bond ? Thanks Dan

Dan, I know you didn’t ask for the marriage of David M. NELSON, so you may already have it, but just in case: 1 Nov 1865, David M. NELSON married Susan HENDERSON. Married by Rufus P. Wells. Actually, that must be the date of the license. There is no Daniel or David Nelson in the Bradley 1850 census.

Trying to follow a Daniel Nelson who appears in the 1840 Bradley County census. I suspect he is the father of my GGG grandfather. If he is he will of married a Sarah ??, maybe there in Bradley County. Finding that marriage would go a long way to helping prove the question. However, any other scenario would help eliminate this one also.

In Response To: Re: Henry Brown (Kristi Toland)
There is an article about Henry Brown in the heritage book, but it does not give the names of his parents. His dates are 1812-1900, and yes, he was married twice. First to Lucinda H. Reagan, then to Mary N. Lawrence. Lucinda’s parents were James and Elizabeth Reagan. Henry was born ca. 1812 in TN, but his older brother, William, was born ca. 1805 in VA. William married Lucinda’s sister, Mary Ann. This article says that Henry moved to Bradley Co. in 1837 (after marrying Lucinda in 1836) with his wife’s parents.
