Donating Land for Church Building 23 September 1875
This indenture made and entered into this the 25th day of September 1875, between Henry Trotter of Bradley County Tennessee of the one part and W.H. Hawk, G.D. Randolph, William McAndrew, Samuel T. Kelley, and Henry Trotter, Trustees in trust for the Methodist Episcopal Church in their neighborhood of the second part. Witnesseth, that whereof the above named party of the first part has donated the following described tract or parcel of land to the Methodist Episcopal Church as a situation or site for a church building beginning at the South East corner of W. H. Hawks land and running north along the line between his land and the land of Henry Trotter forty rods to a stake, thence east at right angles west fifteen rods to a stake in the said line between said Hawk and Trotter, thence south along said line ten and half rods to the beginning corner of his lot. The party of the first part gives, grants, transfers and conveys said described lot to Wm. H. Hawk, G. C. Randolph, Wm. McAndrew, Sam T. Kelley and Henry Trotter, Trustees in trust that they and their successors holding said lot and the house of worship on it shall at all times permit such ministers and preachers belonging to the Methodist Episcopal Church as shall from time to time be duly authorized by General Conference of Ministers and laymen of our church or by the annual conferences to preach and expound Gods Holy Word and to execute the discipline of the Church and to administer the Sacrements therein according to the true meaning forever for the above specified purposes.
