WALLACE, Landon – Sheep Attacked by Dogs (1879)
At “Soapstone,” a few miles southwest of town, on Saturday last, a pack of dogs attacked the sheep of Mr. Landon WALLACE, who came upon the dogs when they had killed one sheep and partly eaten it. Mr. WALLACE was accompanied by another man, and the dogs making the attack, the men were compelled to fight manfully for awhile, and after being reinforced, with the aid of guns, axes, shovels, fire-tongs, rocks and clubs, finally succeeded in rescuing the lambs and killing two of the kussed kurs.

Hi, I would love to correspond with anyone researching the early line of Wallaces in Blount. My Harrises go back with them to William Wallace of Ayrshire, Scotland to Ireland to Lancaster, PA, Cecil, MD, Mecklenburg, NC and Abbeville, SC. My line of Harrises were on Crooked Creek in Blount and are on the 1801 early Tax list under Capt. James McGinley. The Alexanders of Blount are also very connected with the Alexanders and Harrises (Herries in Scotland). Thses Harrises are Group 3 DNA and my line went to Murray, GA.
Thanks,
Terese
Hi Terese, thanks for sharing. Hopefully, your comment here may lead you to connect with other Wallace researchers. I can also add you to our Surnames Being Researched page.
Hi Taneya,
Thanks that would be great! Also if you would add Trippett, Garner, McLin, and Johnston for me and Cusick and Black, too.
Thanks for all the work you do to keep this site running!
