Personals (June 10, 1882)
The following items appeared in the June 10, 1882 issue of the Blount County Democrat
- Mr. N.H. GREER, Esq. of Morganton, is in town.
- Prof. N.M. ROGERS of Porter Academy, was in town Wednesday last, and gave this office a pleasant call.
- Rev. J.C. LAWRENCE returned from Springfield, Ill., Friday last, where he went to attend the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church.
- We regret to learn S.C. HINTON, Esq., of the 7th District, is stricken with paralysis.
- Wm. GODDARD, Esq., lost a valuable horse Sunday last, at the stable of Capt. E. GODDARD. The horse got his head fastened in the door, and before assistance could be rendered life was extinct.
- Dr. J.D. GARNER left at this office a specimen of white winter oats, which measured 6 feet 8 inches in height. It is well headed, and we learn that they will yield 75 to 80 bushels per acre.
- The family of J.W. EAKIN are visiting relatives in Middle Tennessee, where they will spend several weeks.
- Mr. J.M. HOOD and family, with James BEAL, returned from Jefferson County, Wednesday last. Mrs. HOOD is in feeble health, but is improving.
- Mrs. S.M. WELLS, who has been in feeble health for several months, and has been at Montvale Springs, returned to town last week, and is at the residence of her brother, Mr. A.L. WELLS. He is still in a critical condition.
- We are pleased to learn that Mrs. ROSS, who has been sick some time, is better.
- Mr. Jesse PEELE is on a visit to friends in Ohio.
- We regret to learn that Mr. J.D. WIER, who resides near town, is quite ill.

Thanks for posting article about illness of S.C. Hinton, Esq. I always find it interesting to find clues about medical history of my ancestors.
