BOND, Lucy – (d. 1882)

In Memoriam

Mt. Tabor, June 18, 1882

Lucy BOND, a little girl, aged 12 years, daughter of Mr. John BOND, departed this lief on the night of the 15th inst.  She was bright and intelligent, always ready to heed the behest of her parents; she was loved by all who knew her.  She attended Sabbath School not only for the purpose of being in society, but always seemed greatly interested in the lesson, and to hear something of the “old, old, story, of Jesus and his love.”  And by reason of her long frequenting the school and playing an active part in the same, the following resolutions were drawn up and adopted:

Whereas, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has seen proper to lay the hand of affliction on one of our number, and after much suffering, as we believe, has conveyed her safely beyond the Jordan’s cold sullen tide:

Therefore, Be it Resolved, 1st.  That we the teachers and students of Mt. Tabor Sunday School do regret to learn of the death of one who displayed so great a genius for learning and an example for piety.

2d. Resolved that we do hereby tender our deepest sympathy to this bereaved family, out of which a gem has been taken which can never be replaced.
