HODGE, Francis N. (1893)
Death of Francis N. Hodge
A telephone message announced the death of Francis H. HODGE, at eight o’clock last night, at the home of his sister, Mrs. EVERETT, in Maryville. He has been an invalid for some time, and while his death was anticipated it was quite a shock to his many friends in Knoxville. Mr. HODGE was born in the 13th civil district of this county, on a farm. For fifteen years he was connected with the hardware firm of Cruze, Buffatt & Buckwell of this city. He was faithful, diligent, and rigidly honest. He was quiet in his deportment, cared nothing for show and display, but enjoyed the cordial friendship and confidence of all those who knew him well.
He was a member of the Church Street Methodist church, and a consistent and devout christian. His death will be sincerely mourned by relatives and friends. A special train will run tomorrow to Maryville after the arrival of the 9:29 a.m. regular train in order that Knoxville friends may attend the funeral. Those going can return in the afternoon.
