Obituary – Cate, Carel, 2006

Carel Cate, age 90, of Powell, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 2, 2006 at his residence.

He was a member of Farmers Grove Baptist Church and was born March 19, 1915 in Sevier County, Tennessee.

He is preceded in death by first wife, Mamie Bardill Cate; daughters, Margaret Brownfield and Mable Christine Cate; parents, Myrtle and Etta Snyder Cate; sister, Sylvia Smith; brothers, Clifford and M.J. Junior Cate.

Survivors: Wife, Ruby DeMouey Cate of Powell; Daughters, Bertha Harden of Powell, Dorothy Myers of Heiskell; Step Daughters, Juanita Breazeale of Hattiesburg, MS, Cindy Pace & husband Ray of Hattiesburg, MS; Son, Cecil Cate & wife Mary of Powell; Step Sons, Randy Saluters of Hattiesburg, MS, Teddy Cate & wife Nancy of Knoxville; 14 Grandchildren; 7 Step Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Earl Cate of Clinton, Charles Cate & wife Ruth of Powell; Step Brother, L.B. Lane of Knoxville; Step Mother, Elizabeth Cate of Knoxville; Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Joe Copeland officiating.

His burial will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March 6, 2006 at Farmers Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
