Oscar Mitchell
Member of Friendly Welcome Bapt.
Oscar Mitchell, 65, of Route 3, Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at HCA Park West Medical Centers of Knoxville.
Mr. Mitchell served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Friendly Welcome Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Mitchell; four sons, Carson Mitchell, Lloyd Mitchell, Ronson Mitchell and Kenny Mitchell, all of Route 3, Oliver Springs; four daughters, Geraldine Daugherty of Briceville, Patricia Singleton of Route 3, Oliver Springs, Mabgelene Guy of Aiken, S.C., and Vrince Hinkle of Oliver Springs; and 10 grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Roscoe Mitchell and Hugh Mitchell, both of Danville, Ill.; and two sisters, Ruth Lawson of Route 3, Oliver Springs and Leona Robinson of Oliver Springs.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Friendly Welcome Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Seiber officiating. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs.
