HAMILTON, Marion Clay, merchant; born Dyer Co., Tenn., April 27,1855; English descent; son of James H. and Callie (Ellis) HAMILTON; father’s occupation, farmer and merchant; received common school education; married Mollie F. MOORE Dec. 22, 1878, Annie B. MURRAY May 1886; in early life was a farmer; entered the grocery business at Newbern, Tenn., in 1879, dry goods business in 1882; owns general merchandise stock in Newbern, firm of Hamilton & Son, and Newbern Grocery Co., also interested in furniture store, Hickman, Ky., Pres. and Stockholder in Newbern (Tenn.) Bank; member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church.
