He was born in Elmwood, Tennessee in 1845. He got his education in Granville, Tennessee
and Forrest Home College near Louisville, Kentucky. He married in 1868 to Tennessee Jane
"Tennie" Apple, daughter of Jackson Carroll Apple and Mary Jane Holford.
Seton and Tennie were the parents of three children:
LeCompton Holford Clark b: 4 August 1869 Granville, Jackson Co., Tennessee d: 30 December
1919 Buffalo Valley, Putnam Co., Tennessee married Nellie Izora McDonald March 2, 1902
Wilbur Armstrong Clark b: 10 September 1871 d: 8 November 1902 Enigma, Smith Co., Tennessee
John Bonnell Clark b: 20 July 1875 d: 26 July 1876
Seton taught for 4 years at Granville then in Snow Creek. He built the Elmwood Institute in 1875.
He ran the institue for over 15 years then took over the Dixon Springs Academy.
