Shelby County, located in West Tennessee, was established in 1819. Named after Isaac Shelby, the first and fifth governor of Kentucky, Shelby is bordered by Tipton and Fayette counties in TN, Marshall & DeSoto counties in Mississippi, and Crittenden county, Arkansas. The county seat is Memphis.
