Many years ago William WEATHERS, then of Frederick, was possessed of land in Frederick. During war of Revolution he was reported killed by Indians and his sisters took possession as heirs, viz: Susanna BARTON, wife of Henry BARTON; Jane HURST, wife of Jacob HURST; and Sarah JOHNSTON, wife of Enos JOHNSTON. He died there 9 Apr 1834, and his widow applied there on 11 Mar 1842, age 84, however in Feb 1839 she gave her age as 92. A daughter Judith LIFORD or LEFORD was aged 52 and referred to an older sister (not named), and in 1839 Judith lived in Hawkins Co, TN and a Jacob LIFORD or LEFORD also lived there at that time, and an Elizabeth BELCHER of Hawkins Co, TN in 1841, and also in 1841, a Sarah STAPELTON, aged 79, of same Co, all made aff'dts, but their relationship to his family wasn't stated (Extracted from Virgil D. He died 16 or 17 Nov 1833 in Grainger Co, TN and his widow applied there 27 Sep 1844, aged 71. In 1848, she was living in Campbell Co, TN and in 1856 in Union Co, TN. She died 22 Apr 1862 or 20 May 1862. Children shown were: Patsy 1st child, aged about 55 in 1845 [b 1790 abt], Betsy 2nd child was 2 yrs younger [abt 1792], Reuben 1st son was 2 yrs younger than Betsy [abt 1794], Julia 4th child married Daniel widow S and in 1820 was living in NC, William no data, James aged about 67 in 1869 [b 1802 abt] was a res of Union Co, TN, Ann the youngest child was aged 17 in 1820 [1803 abt] and she married Wm. DAUGHTRY and they were living in Grainger Co, TN in 1845 and they had married in Hawkins Co, TN soon after 1820 and in 1845 the said Wm. DAUGHTRY was aged about 64; the son James JOHNSON lived in Union Co, TN in 1815 [sic] and stated he was sol's only surviving child; a grandson (not named) was mentioned in 1856, in 1869 one Jesse DAUGHTRY was of Union Co, TN and in 1844 James JOHNSON was of Grainger Co, TN (Extracted by C. Daniel Jones 1789-1835 Private, North Carolina Militia, $30.00 Annual Allowance $90.00 Amount Received March 2 1833 Pension Started Age 77 (1835 TN Pension Roll) Daniel Jones (Pension S1915) served in the NC Line, was born in Mar 1757, lived in Orange Co, NC at enlistment, applied 29 Aug 1832, Hawkins Co, TN, died 27 Jul 1841 at Knoxville (Knox Co), TN. (Extracted from White's Genealogical Abstracts, p. 1869) "Daniel Jones Sr. (1757-1841) at the age of 22 [ca 1779] joined the Revolutionary Army at Hillsborough [Orange Co], North Carolina. He served as Private under Archibald LYTLE's N.C. Regiments. He drew a pension, claim S1915. After the war he came to and settled in Hawkins Co, TN, date unknown. He was taxed in Hawkins Co. in 1789 for a spotted boar (Knoxville Gazette, 1792) and on account book of Thomas AMIS store in 1794. In 1796, was conveyed 3 acres of land on Beech Creek, South of the Holston River to build a mill from Mason COMBS. He owned 144 acres on both side of Beech Creek..." David LAWSON 1794-1799 NC Line. Served under Capt. JOHNSON at Guilford Courthouse and Cowpens, then volunteered for frontier service at the "headwaters of the Holston" where he served under Capt. Campbell. He was then retained as an Indian Spy he was retained as an Indian spy under the command of Col. Dickison and Captain Lewis. He married Elizabeth in Hawkins Co, TN on 18 Oct 1794, lived in Hawkins for 5 years; he applied for pension in Campbell Co, TN in 1843, d 1852. He applied for his pension on 28 Nov 1832 in Hawkins Co, TN and died there 5 Sep 1833. He had married in Aug 1784 at “Capt AMIS” [Thomas AMIS of Big Creek] in Hawkins Co, TN to Polly ---. His widow applied in Hawkins 6 May 1839, aged 74, and died 10 Jul 1844 at the home of her son Lazarus LAWSON, leaving children: Lazarus LAWSON, Matilda who married Anderson Campbell of Hawkins Co, TN, Lewis LAWSON of McMinn Co TN, Russel & Reynolds LAWSON, Elizabeth who married Wm. FINNELL & Anna who married Thomas HAYNES. Daughter Anna was of Bradley Co, TN in 1845, a widow; daughter Hetsy was born in Aug 1784, was living in 1839, but had died prior to 1845. (Researcher C. MORMON LAWSON 1804-1834 served in the VA Line, was born in Jan 1751 in Bedford Co, VA, resided in Henry Co, Virginia when he enlisted, later moved to Stokes Co, NC, had also lived at one time in Lee Co, VA. Applied for his pension on 25 Feb 1834 in Hawkins TN, at which time he had lived in TN for 30 yrs. He declared that he had married 2nd Miss Elva COLLINS in Lee VA abt 1803 (the name of his 1st wife not given). Mormon died 16 Sep 1842 in Hancock TN, and his widow applied there on 2 Jul 1855, age 85 at the time (except in 1857, she gave her age as 82). She declared that they had had seven children, but the only ones named were Peter, Mormon and Phoebe LAWSON. In 1855 a Jonas LAWSON was of Hawkins TN, age 55. (Pension W9501, BLW#39226-160-55, White)

Charles died, apparently in Warren Co, on 7 Sep 1838. A Charles PAYNE was granted 100 acres in (then) Sullivan County, North Carolina, described as on north side of Holston River lying on the road about a spring beteen Robertson'S and William'S. (Hawkins County, TN Grant Books I & II by Billie R. McNamara, email: Combs &c. of Hawkins Co, TN for more about the Paynes of Hawkins and Warren Counties.
