The Obituary

Delores Anderson Thomas was born July 9, 1 956 in Miami, Florida to the late William Anderson and Celia Johnson Anderson.

She accepted Christ as her Saviour as a child and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church. She later united with the Second Baptist Church, pastored by the Reverend John Ferguson.

Her primary and secondary education took place in the Dade County Public School System. She graduated from Killian Senior High School in Miami. Upon graduation, she attended Miami-Dade Junior College, where she received an Associate of Arts Degree. In fulfillment of a life long dream to become a Registered Nurse and while juggling the rigorous duties of a Pastor's wife and mother, Delores enrolled in the Tennessee State University School of Nursing. She was determined not to be defeated or sidetracked, and attended the Nursing School graduation on May 9, 1992. She proudly displayed her Registered Nurse's Pin and Graduating Class of 1992 Photograph. She would have been awarded the Associate of Applied Degree in December 1992.

On June 26, 1 977, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Anthony Lynn Thomas, a Minister and serviceman in the United States Air Force. To this union three children were born; Nikki, Anthony Jr., and Necole.

As the wife of an A.M.E. Minister, Delores served in various capacities in the Church and community in Tennessee and Kentucky, where her husband was privileged to pastor. Delores was not only a loyal, supportive helpmate, but was also a caring and loving mother who was very dedicated to her family. To all whom she came in contact, family and friends alike, there was no doubt that Delores was a devout Christian. Her loving heart and warm smile, along with her sense of humor, optimism and enthusiasm were all testaments of her faith an example to follow for those who loved her dearly.

She leaves a devoted husband, Reverend Anthony L. Thomas of Clarksville, Tennessee; two daughters, Nikki Giovan and Necole Shawnta Thomas of Clarksville, Tennessee; one son, Anthony Lynn Thomas, Jr. of Clarksville, Tennessee her mother, Mrs. Celia Anderson of Miama, Florida; three brothers, William (Billy) Anderson of Oceanside, New Jersey, Robert Anderson of Tucson, Arizona, and Gene Anderson of California; her twin sister Debra Stancil of Tucson, Arizona; two other sisters, Michelle Anderson and Denise Clarke both of Miami, Florida; her mother-in-law Minister Lucille Coffee; five sisters-in-law, Francine Anderson, Ruth McGhee, Doris Thomas Hill, Shirley Lanehart and Petty Officer Phyllis Clarke; six brothers-in-law, Michael Stancil, Milton Clarke, Dr. Alfred Hill, Willie McGhee.
