Obituary

Her sunrise was July 24, 1942 and her sunset was August 26, 1995 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to the union of Stanley and Johnetta Smith. She was the youngest of two. This marriage was later dissolved. In 1952 her mother married Leonard Guy whom was a very loving stepfather.

She received her early education in Tennessee and in 1952 she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she completed her education at John Hay High School.

She accepted Christ at an early age by the way of the Methodist Church in her hometown.

She was united in marriage to Ben Cannon Jr. in 1961. Of this union three children were born. This union was later dissolved.

In 1971 she married Otis Thomas Sr. they were devoted to each other until her death.

She was a member and dedicated secretary of various Bowling Leagues and Associations. Bowling was one of her beloved hobbies and throughout her bowling career she became very well loved by many near and afar.

She was hospitalized on July 25, 1995 and remained there until her earthly life came to an end on August 26, 1995.

The memories we have of her will always be dear to us in our hearts. We should not mourn her passing but rejoice for our dearly departed mother, friend and loved one has gone to a home more beautiful and peaceful than any one of us could ever know. She gave her life for her family and friends and has now been added to that blessed family in the city called Heaven. Yes, we all loved her, but God loved her best.

She leaves to mourn: a very devoted husband Otis Thomas Sr.; two caring daughters: Patricia and Tracy; a loving son, Ben; a stepson Otis; one brother, Stanley Smith Jr.; two aunts, Nora Nance and Mary Funderburk; three granddaughters, Britani, Briana, Benette; three grandsons, Ben IV, Kadeem and Denario; one niece, Christina; two nephews, Ryan and TréShawn; mother-in-law, Evelyn Thomas; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; a dear friend, Carolyn Lanier and THE SELECTIVE SIX CLUB; two goddaughters, Stephanie and Stacey; a host of many more relatives and a host of friends.
