for Luther J. Austin
OBITUARY: KNOXVILLE NEWS-SENTINEL June 16, 1987: LUTHER J. AUSTIN, 88,
of Route 2, Huntsville, (Norma community) passed away Sunday afternoon
at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida. He was a member of the Antioch
Baptist Church, a retired coal miner and a Veteran. Survivors include
his wife, Mrs. Cora Hatfield Austin of Route 2, Huntsville; eight sons,
Kenneth Austin of Norma, Ted Austin of Florence, KY., Luther Austin,
Jr., of Knoxville, Robert and Lee Austin, both of Cincinnati, OH.,
Billy Austin of Dawson Springs, KY., E. Ray Austin of Germany, and
Larry Austin of Pioneer; one stepson, Asberry Byrd of LaFollette; two
daughters, Mrs. Mildred Lowe of Norma, and Mrs. Jean Driggers of Jesup,
GA.; four sisters, Mrs. Olive Ellis and Mrs. Ellen Osborne both of
Sparta, Mrs. Mattie Pate of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Edith Rice of
Charlottesville, VA., 32 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; several
niece and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday
at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Finley Hatfield, Rev. Asberry
Byrd and Rev. Carlie Duncan officiating. Interment was in the Antioch
Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of
arrangements.
