Looking for information on Ida Elizabeth Flatt/ Burchett or
Burchett/Flatt. My ggreatgrandmother.Was married to Riley Burchett,I
don't know if she was a Flatt and then married the Burchett or if
Riley died and she then married a Flatt but she was in Wilson Co.
after 1925. She had 2 sons, Walter and Claudie Burchett and 2
daughters, Martha Elizabeth (my grandmother) and Florence Burchett.
Any info will be appreciated.

We have been trying to get information regarding the Sandusky family
who reportedly lived in Wilson Cty in the 1700 and/or 1800's. Mariah
Sanders/Sandusky married a James Henckley/Henkly/Hankla in this area.
Mariah's parents were Andrew and Eleanor Sandusky. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I am seeking info on my ggggrandparents..Henry FLOWERS b 1766
and Elizabeth MARSHALL b 1768. They married in NC in 1797, lived in
Wilson, Gibson and Hickman Co. in TN after their marriage. Son named
Jacob b 1816. Jacob and Elizabeth moved to AR after Henry's death.
Elizabeth died there in 1855. Henry was the son of Jacob FLOWERS b 1740
in VA>NC and Lydia MARTIN. Would like to know where Henry might be
buried..and any thing else..thank you

WHITE, b. May 29, 1786 in Va., d. Sept. 11, 1853 in Wilson County,
TN. John md. Susannah BRADLEY b. May 4, 1794 d. Aug. 4, 1865 in
Wilson County, TN. Susannah was the daug. of John and Susannah
Rowton Bradley JR. It is possible he is related to Henry White of
Bedford County VA and possibly the son of Acelby White or some would
know him by Archeleaus (Archie), but no proof as we can't seem to
find John W's parents. We know he went to Wilson Co, TN with the
Bradley family. Anyone with any information on John W. White,

GOWIN, Shadrack b. VA 1791 moved to TN before 1800, m. BASS, Mary
"Polly" between 1814-1818. BASS, Mary "Polly" b. 16 Aug 1797 in
Wilson Co.Tenn. I am trying to find parents of both BASS and GOWIN to
help determine arrival in Tenn. I want to become a member of the
first families of Tenn, but I am coming up short 1 yr. Gowin had

I am searching for William H. WADE or any WADEs from Wison or DeKalb
County Tennessee. I have found evidence since my last posting that
William H. WADE was in Wison County as early as 1833. He came to
Wilson county from Virginia (unknown county) I beleive he was born
around 1800. I do not have a wife for him. His son, William M. WADE
was born about 1826 in Virginia. William H. was a hatter by trade.
I would love any help with this line. I can't seem to pick it up in
Virginia. WADE is not a uncommon name in Virginia, and there are a
few rather fruitful branches. Any hints or suggestions would be

Where did they come from and was Richardson a Doctor of Medicin,
Doc Wilson Madison Carr Learned the printing trade somewhere and
became an editor in St. Charles Mo. He also was a writer but we
cannot find anything he wrote. Where is the grave of Thomas, Ann,

Searching for a line on Perry White Oliver b.1850 m. Eliza A. Oliver

Need family connections of Robert H. WILLIAMS born 1801, TN. married
Mary P. FRAME born 1812 Illinois. In Claiborne Parish LA by 1830
census, living near Widow Jane Williams, head of household, 2 males
20/30, herself 50/60, 2 slaves. Other Williams in 1830 were Elias and
Samuel. By 1840 there were Nancy 20/30, John Woolames either 30/40 or
70/80, Nancy 40/50, John 30/40 with a female 60/70 (Widow Jane?),
Martin 30/40, Samuel 50/60, Mary 30/40, Henry 20/30 and Blakely, no
info. They are living near many Wilson Co. families, including Chris.

Hello:
My name is Carl Barger. I am researching my Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Allen
BARGER and his wife Nancy BULLOCK. I would like to know if Nancy
BULLOCK may have come from your county. I think she may have married
Allen BARGER sometime around 1830-35. Allen lived in BLEDSOE Co.
during the 1837-39 years. He and Nancy had two children that were
listed in the 1840 federal census for Ripley Co. Mo. Both children
gave that they were born in Tn. I would like any information on
either Allen or Nancy. Also, on John BARGER and Pointer BARGER who
also were in Bledsoe Co. in the 1840 federal census. I also think
that Nancy's father may have been Joseph BULLOCK. Please check your

I am looking for information on Stephen Hopkins and Mary "Polly"
Adamson. They were married in Wilson Co., TN on 21 Oct 1806. Polly
is the daughter of Jesse Adamson and members of a Quaker community.
Stephen later was on the move between Fayette Co., IL and Wilson Co.,

Interested in information on a Nathaniel Scudder from Rowan County,
NC migrated to Wilson County, TN and then on the Wilkinson County,
MS. He was married to Agnes N. Blair. His occupation was of sometype
of legal profession. Nathaniel and Agnes had nine children, one being
Thomas Pike Scudder, veteran of War of 1812. Nathaniel died @1821 in

John RICE is in Wilson Co. census 1850 with dau.s Easter, Rebecca and
Nancy BOAZ (BOZE), Daniel BOAZ (BOZE) and their three children. A
fourth dau., Isabella was recently deceased. John 's ca. b. 1779 in
NC. Where? Who was his wife, is she deceased ? and what other
children did he have? As there are several John RICE's in the county
I do not how to separate his family from the other possible families.

My great-great grandfather WILLIAM JAMES ROGERS was born in 1809. He
married ANN ELIZA (ELIZA JANE?)BAIRD, born 1825 in TN., on January
2,1845 in Wilson Co.TN. Their son HENRY A.was born March 5,1850. He
married MARY E. LASATER,born Dec. 3, 1852 in TN., on September 30,
1871. They moved to Sylvan, Lamar Co. TX sometime around the 1890s.
I do not have any information on Eliza or Mary other than their

Does anyone have any information about the SMITH, DAVIS, OR JENNINGS
families. My great-grandfather was Leo Arthur SMITH of Mount Juliet,
TN. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama and married Margaret Austin.
His father was Alec SMITH , and his mother was Emma DAVIS. Alec
Smith's father was Warner SMITH. I have no idea who Warner Smith was
married to. However, I do know that Alec SMITH'S wife, Emma DAVIS,
was the daughter of James Evans DAVIS and Anna JENNINGS. The
children of James Evans Davis and Anna Jennings were Sara Ester, Sam,
Margaret, James Walter, and Emma. Unfortunatly, I have no dates to
provide.
If anyone has any information regarding any of these people, I would
be most appreciative.

Seeking date of death and burial place of my gr grandfather, Alford
Hankins. He was alive in june 1901 when he applied for his civil war
pension. He was born May 1831. Married 1st, Lurana E. Weir, second a
widow, Orpha Thompson.His dau, Sarah Malina Hankins married William
JOPLIN of Wilson Co. and they moved to Collin Co. Texas. Alford may
be buried at Hankins Hill. I think the fam lived at Shoppe Springs.

I'm looking for any notes,facts, or comments concerning the area of
my home on Hickory Ridge Rd. in Lebanon. I do know that we have some
graves that belong to the Wynne family who I'm assuming owned the
land prior to, or sold it to Andrew JACKSON. Andrew Jackson gave or
sold this land to the folks who sold it to my Grandfather, Troy
DEDMAN. I'd like, as well to find out who those "folks" were as well.
The WYNNE family must have been there a very long time as the oldest
grave I can find is Colonel John WYNNE who, according to his dates,
must have served during the American Revolution. Bottom line is (1)
I'm looking to try and preserve this land from expansion (152 acres)
and (2) attempt to get a grant form the Historical Society to aid in
renovating the home place, house, to take my family back to Tn and
live in. I'm currently in the Marine Corps in North Carolina. Is it
possible to do these things?? Thank you for hearing this out.

My great-great-grandfather, Paschal H. Bottoms, along with several
other Wilson County residents went to the State of Tennessee to build
a turnpike from Statesville to the Ferry Turnpike near Nashville
along souther Wilson County in 1849. (Act No. 50) Does anyone know
if this turnpike was ever completed. Paschal and his family sold
their land and moved to Gibson County either late 1850 or early 1851.
I have not seen where he sold his interest in this turnpike.

The Wilson County Deed Books identify several exchanges of property from
a family named MARKS. A group of families from southside VA migrated to TN
in the early 1800s. This group included at least two branches of the
MARKS family that settled in Giles Co. I am interested in the possibility
of connecting the Wilson Co. MARKS withthese branches.

James BELL and his wife, Mary (DEAN) BELL, moved to Wilson Co in 1819 and
bought 515 acres in the 23 District (Hurricane Creek Area). They had
nine children - Robert, Eleanor (married James Baird), Mary(Polly), Ira,
George W., Rebecca, Anne, Sary, Samuel Authur (married Elizabeth M. CASON).
The eldest child, Maj Robert BELL, is in the Biographical Appendix of
Goodspeed's history of Wilson Co. Am interested in exchanging information

In the 1830 Wilson County Tennessee Federal Census there is a William
HOWSON (bd 1780-1790) listed. He is not in the 1820 or 1840 census.
I have no other information on this family but I suspect he related
to my Benjamin HOUSDEN (bd 1781)who migrated to Williamson County
Tennessee 1818-1820 from Shenandoah County, Va. I would love to make

Thomas M, ALLEN, my ggrandfather, was born in October, 1836 in Texas.

the 1820 census in Sumner Co., as being 45 and over, and in his

1820 census of Wilson Co., BENJAMIN TARVER is also 45 and over, and

Does anyone have a connection to the RICHARDS family that was in
Wilson Co, TN between 1800 and 1830. William RICHARDS b. 1760-1770
and his brother James RICHARDS owned land on Smith's Fork during this
time. They were both in Richland Co, IL area by 1830. William (who
may have married a MAXWELL) had sons William Maxwell b. 1784 m. 1st

Does anyone have any information on Hugh McCOY and Caty WILSON that
were married 1806 in Wilson Co,TN. I believe that the McCOYS came to
Wilson Co from NC via Garrard Co, KY. There is a Caty WILLSON that
is a witness on the will of Mary Ann HICKS 1802 Wilson Co. Mary Ann
names her daughters Anne, wife of Phillip KOONCE and Martha, wife of
Thomas WHITWORTH. Other witnesses include Chirstopher KOONCE and
Polly KOONCE. Any help will be appreciated and I will be glad to

Temple COLE, born on November 16 1816.possibly in Wilson County, had
brothers named Tilford, Charlie and Richmond COLE. Temple was driving
livestock from near Goodletsville to market in Mobile and was
camped on an Alabama riverbank when " STARS FELL ON ALABAMA", I
believe that was probably November 13, 1833. Probably on a later
trip through Alabama, Temple COLE fell in love with Almeda Ruth
GREEN, the daughter of Josiah GREEN and Ruth DUCKWORTH. Temple and
Almeda were allowed to marry on condition they remain in Alabama.
Their children were Emana, married John PATE; Susan, married a Mr
HALL; Malinda, married Marion SIMS; Mattie, married Henry BEATY;
Andrew, married Bama KILPATRICK; and Ruth Love Ann COLE, my great
grandmother, who was born April 16, 1852 in Pickens County Alabama
and married my great grandfather, Reuben Franklin BAILEY around 1870.
Can anyone help me trace the Tennessee forebears of Temple COLE? I
will be happy to share information with anyone who will try to help.

I am trying to obtain information on the marriages of William NUNN in
the middle 1800's. I believe he was married 2 times. First to
Elizabeth WILSON (not sure of this), and second to Sarah (Sallie)

BYRAM, T.F. (Tolbert Fanning): This person died 3/15/1911 and was
married to Emma Pippin Byram who also died in 1911 (month and day
unknown at this time). The death record for T.F. said he died by
hanging in the penitentiary and Emma was murdered.

I am Searching for information on William H. WADE who came to Wilson
Co. from VA in about 1837-38. He moved in 1840 to Dekalb County TN
where he died that same year. He had a son, William M. WADE who was
also born in VA about 1826. Willaim M Wade. married Caroline

I am seeking information on SAMUEL ALLEN PATTON b. 1823 and his wife
ELIZABETH EVELINE MARTIN, b. 1828 and d. 1882. I believe that
Elizabeth is buried in the Bass Cemetery in Wilson County. I am told
that this is a small family cemetery and can anyone tell me where in
Wilson county it is located? My limited information is that they came
to Putnam County, TN from Carter County, TN in about 1864. He was
listed as a wagon maker in 1850. Samuel Allen Patton may have died
before 1870 since I am not able to locate him on the census index. I
do find many Pattons in Wilson County in 1870, but don't have enough
information to know if any of these are related to Samuel Allen
Patton. Elizabeth Patton may have been living in Wilson County with
one of her sons at the time of her death in 1882. The names of their
sons were Samuel Turner Patton b. 1850, William Melborn Patton b.
1854, James Wesley Patton b. 1856, Donald Lafayette Patton b. 1860,
John Morgan Patton b. 1863 or 1865 and Robert Lee Patton b. 1866.

I am searching for information on Sterling TARPLEY born between about
1801 to 1829 and the son of Sterling Tarpley and Lucretia Pettypool,
who moved to Wilson County between 1799 and 1808. According to info
I have, his brothers were my GGGrandfather John TARPLEY, Sr. and
Joseph Bell TARPLEY. I would like DOB, DOM & DOD as well as wife's
and childrens names, if any, and any other info one might have!

Looking for information about Henry (William) GOINS born around 1840. Was in
37th Infantry TN. I know his brother's name was William Goins. I am
not sure of his race. Thank you. Records say, he was colored, dark
and some say Indian; he was born about 1840.

Looking for John NESBITT (b June 5, 1795) his wife was Martha (b Oct
7, 1798). There is a marriage in Wilson County, license dated Dec
22, 1829 that could be them. They had 10 children, Rachel T,
Janette, James E, Ellis T, John S, Almira Jane, Sandra Elizabeth,
Thomas M, William J, and Martha. This family eventually came to

Seeking information on the Sterling BROWN who was an apparently
effective Methodist minister around 1800. Robert H. ELLIS named a
son Sterling Coleman (Colman) Brown Ellis apparently after the
minister Sterling BROWN. Who was this BROWN, etc. who was apparently

Thomas Davison LANSDEN married Margaret (Peggy) MCLIN 1809/1811
Wilson County TN. I have lots of info on Lansden, and all of their
children were born here, they moved to Moultrie County IL in 1830.
But the mother Margaret (Peggy) I have no info on. I think she was
probably born about 1790. She died in Moultrie Co IL in 1835. Would
like to know more about "Peggy". Since they married Wilson Co. and
lived there abt 20 years, I am hoping someone there can help me out.
Their 8 children born in Wilson Co. were Amanda Susan, Nancy Emeline,

Searching for JOHN W. SULLIVAN, b.ca. 1832 married MILLIE (Emily)
BROOKS Hardeman Co. 1866. Unable to connect him to parents or
siblings prior to this time. In 1880 Millie is widowed or divorced
with three children Milton J., William M., and Thomas A., living in
Madison Co. In 1850 found a John SULLIVAN age 14 living with
JEREMIAH and ANN FULLER. No marriage record has been found for them
in TN or NC. Have reason to believe JOHN W. SULLIVAN may be
connected to the Wilson Co. SULLIVANS of 1820. Found a Wilson Co.
tidbit stating "Ann SULLIVAN, widow of Wm.SULLIVAN 3-28-1841" Would

I am looking for any information in regards to JAMES CLARENCE
MCCOLLUM. He was born 04 May 1911 and died in Lebanon, TN in July of
1984. He was married to LOLA ALEEN COMBS and they had 2 children. Any

Martha DILLARD m in 1818, Wilson Co., TN, George W. COOPER. Who were
Martha's parents, and did she have children by George? When & where
did she die? George, b 1786, had m/1 Betsy DOUGLASS, d/o Elmore
DOUGLASS & Betsy BLACKMORE, had 7 children, & Betsy d 1816. George
went to Callaway Co., KY, by 1823, where he m/3 Mahala CLINTON; they
went to IL.

COOPER appeared in Sumner Co. court minutes beg. 1789, and
Christopher bought land in Wilson Co., 1801. Were William & Benjamin

My g-grandparents, Narcissa (Narcissie) Frances CARTER and Gilford
COTHRAN (COWTHAN), were married in Wilson Co on Dec. 23, 1875.
Gilford was the son of William Cawthon and Esther Telford, married in
Wilson Co. 8-26-1843. Narcissa was the daughter of Jane CARTER, who
married William Mack CAVIN in Wilson Co., 8-8-1859. Mack was the
son of Samuel CAVIN and Betsy HAYNES. I am searching for the father
of Narcissa CARTER and for information about the parents of Jane
CARTER CAVIN. Any information will be appreciated.

Looking for information on William LEEMAN b. ca 1750-1780 NC m. Amey
MERRITT in NC ca 1797. William moved his family to Wilson, Co. TN ca
1808 (after Amey's death). He lived there from ca 1808 to ca 1813.
In 1813 he moved to Madison Co. AL. While in Wilson Co. AL he met
Elizabeth COOK. They never married but had four known children.
Elizabeth COOK followed William LEEMAN to Madison Co. AL where they
both died. William's children: Belza (f), Henry, Green, John, Joseph,
James, Squire (m), Elizabeth, Martha, Hannah, Catherine, Merritt, and
Margaret. Henry stayed in Wilson Co. TN or at least moved back to
Wilson Co. TN as some of his children were located in Wilson Co. TN
in 1850, 1860, and 1870. Thomas, John, Enoch, Henry, Catherine,
Minerva, and Martha. Henry was married twice 1st Martha MC MAHAN and
2nd Bizzy/Kizzy WARREN. Any information will be truely appreciated.
