H, 7<sup>th<\/sup> reg. Ohio Volunteer Infantry, second and first lieutenant; also captain Co. C, 84<sup>th<\/sup> Ohio Vol. Infantry; appointed Colonel Sept. 20, 1862; admitted to bar of Michigan March 30, 1864; first practiced in Youngstown, Ohio, then Des Moines, Iowa; participated in Civil War; battle of Cross Lanes, W. Va., Gauley Bridge, W. Va., McCoy\u2019s Mills, W. Va., Blue\u2019s Gap, W. Va., Kern\u2019s Town, W.
