(Barker) MERIWETHER<\/strong>; paternal grandparents <strong>Dr. Charles Nicholas and Ann Minor MERIWETHER<\/strong>, who were cousins to <strong>Diana MINOR<\/strong>, who married <strong>Richard MAURY<\/strong>, father of <strong>Commodore Mathew Fountaine MAURY<\/strong>; <strong>Mrs. GOODLETT <\/strong>was educated in Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Ky.; married twice; first, to <strong>J. E. STURDIVANT<\/strong>, 1852; second, to <strong>Col. M. E. GOODLETT<\/strong>, son of <strong>Dr. A. G. GOODLETT<\/strong>, Surgeon of the Seventh Regular United States Infantry at battle of New Orleans, 1865; founded United Daughters of Confederacy in 1894; organized the Masonic Home Auxiliary and was President of the same until the home was built and furnished; organized the Confederate Home Auxiliary and was President until the home was built; had women put on the Board of Trustees of Soldiers\u2019 Home; appointed Commissioner from Tennessee to World\u2019s Fair, Chicago, Ill., and Portland, Ore.; was given diploma by Portland, Ore., exposition for services rendered in treaty with government in regard to moving the remains of <strong>Gov. Meriwether LEWIS <\/strong>to Portland, Ore.; Meriwether Lewis\u2019 mother, <strong>Lucy MERIWETHER<\/strong>, was a cousin of <strong>Mrs. GOODLETT\u2019s <\/strong>grandfather; <strong>Mrs. GOODLETT <\/strong>is a life member of the National Humane Society; is associated with the National and International Charities of Corrections, and is a member of the Educational Committee of the Daughters of Confederacy, and is now assisting in getting a compulsory education bill passed by the Legislature.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>Source: Who\u2019s Who in Tennessee: A Biographical Reference Book of Notable Tennesseans of To-Day<\/i>.
