H.<\/strong>, author; born March 17, 1870 at &#8220;Farm Hill&#8221; near Elberton, Ga., daughter of\u00a0 <strong>Tinsley Rucker WHITE<\/strong>, and grand daughter of <strong>Hon. William WHITE<\/strong>; educated by her parents and a governess with the exception of a few terns at the academy in Elberton, Ga.; married <strong>Lundy Howard HARRIS<\/strong>, Feb. 8,1887; her first work was published in the Atlanta Constitution and was a humorous account of\u00a0 &#8220;Miss Puss Rait of Gourdneck District&#8221; watching the Georgia legislature in session; in May 1899 she published her first article in the Independent, and since that date she has been a regular contributor to that magazine, of articles, stories, editorials and book reviews; in 1904 she collaborated with Paul Elmer More and published &#8220;The Jessica Letters;&#8221; she has published a series of &#8220;Brasstown Valley&#8221; stories in the American Magazine and Saturday Evening Post; in January, 1910, her story, &#8220;A Circuit Rider&#8217;s Wife,&#8221; appeared serially in the Saturday Evening Post, and later in book form; this was followed by &#8220;Eve&#8217;s Second Husband;&#8221;\u00a0 her latest story is &#8220;The Recording Angel;&#8221; the early part of her married life was spent in various small towns in Georgia where her husband was minister; her experiences during these years are recorded biographically in\u00a0 &#8220;A Circuit Rider&#8217;s Wife;&#8221; in 1902 her husband was appointed assistant secretary of education in the Methodist Church and they removed to Nashville where Mrs. Harris has since lived; her husband died in Sept. 1910.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>Source: Who\u2019s Who in Tennessee: A Biographical Reference Book of Notable Tennesseans of To-Day<\/i>.
