A. degree, June, 1891, D. D. was conferred by Emory and Henry College, Va., June, 1905; in early life worked on farm and taught one term in public school; married Clara Tucker, Oct. 19, 1893; member of Knights of Pythias and Alpha Tau Omega; former Chaplain State Penitentiary of Tenn., from June, 1887, to Nov., 1892; member of M. E. Church, South, and Holston Annual Conference; was member of the general conferences of 1906 and 1910; member of general board of missions M. E.
