Eldridge<\/strong>, lawyer; born Mobile, Ala., July 25, 1871; Scotch descent; son of <strong>Luke E. and Kate Middleton (Semmes) WRIGHT<\/strong>; father, lawyer, diplomatist, ex-governor general of the Philippines, former ambassador to Japan and former secretary of war; paternal grandparents <strong>Archibald and Mary E. (Eldridge) WRIGHT<\/strong>; received primary education in Memphis, Tenn., preparatory course at Bingham School, N. C. academic course University of Va.; graduated from University of Va. with degree of B. L. in 1892; entered the practice of law as junior member of the firm of Turley &amp; Wright, later was junior member of the firm of Wright &amp; Wright, and upon the departure of his father for the Philippines the firm became Wright, Peters &amp; Wright; the firm is now Wright &amp; Wright; volunteered for the Spanish-American war and became 2d major of the 4<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. U. S. V., at the conclusion of hostilities returned to Memphis and resumed the practice of his profession; he is officer and director in various commercial enterprises, and director in The Commercial Appeal Publishing Co.; he is a member of Masons, A.
