Y.; he returned to Memphis, and at age of eighteen years secured a position with Farrington, Stewart &amp; White, then proprietors of the Gayoso Hotel Company; he remained with that company for three years, then resigned in 1890 to accept a position as teller in the Manhattan Savings Bank &amp; Trust Co.; in 1894 he left the bank to engage in business for himself as a member of the firm of Farnsworth &amp; Matthews, private bankers and insurance underwriters; in 1898 the firm sold out to engage in manufacturing lines in the East; he returned to Memphis in 1900 and established the present firm of R. L.
