High School; in early life was a druggist, later on Louisville (Ky.) newspapers, 1903-1905, and Elkhart Truth, Feb. and March, 1905; married <strong>Jane GREGORY<\/strong><b>,<\/b> Jan. 14, 1906; Democrat; member of Presbyterian church; moved to Memphis April 4, 1905, and worked as reporter on News Sciimtar <i>\/sic\/<\/i> until Feb. 25, 1906, when he became sporting editor for same, later city editor until Nov., 1907, then again sporting editor New Orleans (La.)
