Tenn., July 25, 1836; son of <strong>Frederick S. and Eliza (Brown) HEISKELL<\/strong>; father&#8217;s occupation, newspaper editor and publisher, then farmer; paternal grandfather <strong>Frederick HEISKELL<\/strong>, maternal grandmother was a <strong>Miss STIDLINGER<\/strong> prior to her marriage; maternal grandparents <strong>Joseph and Mary (Harbison) BROWN<\/strong>; educated at Knoxville and Maryville, Tenn., graduated at latter in 1855; began his business career as school teacher; married <strong>Eliza NETHERLAND<\/strong>, Oct. 31, 1861; member of Memphis Country Club; Democrat (independent); served as private, 1st Lieut., Captain, Major, Lieut. Col. 19th Tenn.
