(Robinson) CLEMENS; <\/b>father\u2019s occupation, physician; paternal grandfather James CLEMENS<\/b>, maternal grandfather William E. ROBINSON<\/b>; educated Louisville, Ky., and Center College, Danville, Ky.; graduated from Louisville High School B. A. 1891; in early life was clerk in bank and Ry. office; married Cora G. WOLFE<\/b> Nov. 27, 1901; member Masonic lodges, Blue lodge, Royal Arch, and K. T.; independent in politics; served in Porto Rico as sergeant in 1st<\/sup> Ky. U. S. V. Spanish-American war; served as captain and adjutant Ky. State Guard; began newspaper career in 1895 as \u201ccub\u201d on Louisville (Ky.) Times, then city editor Paducah Register, 1896, police reporter and sporting editor Louisville (Ky.) Times, 1897-1900; sporting and dramatic editor Louisville Dispatch, 1900; reported for these papers the stirring events following the assassination of William GOEBEL<\/b> at Frankfort, Ky., during part of which time he commanded Gatling gun defending state capital and covering trials of alleged conspirators; subsequently city editor Cincinnati (O.)
