BEATTIE, Robert Marye<\/strong>, lawyer; born Memphis, Tenn., March 23, 1861; Scotch-Irish and French Huguenot descent; son of John Dunn and Susan Elizabeth (Parker) BEATTIE<\/strong>; father’s occupation, merchant in Memphis, Tenn., prior to civil war, and at Starksville [sic], Miss., many years after the war; paternal grandparents Thomas Beall and Catherine (Marye) BEATTIE<\/strong>, maternal grandparents Robert A. and Lamira (Minter) PARKER<\/strong>; educated at Starkville, Miss., graduated from Miss. A. & M. College with B.S. degree in 1883, member of its first graduating class; took law course at University of Va., 1885-6; after graduation at A. & M. College he traveled a year and a half in Alabama to make means to take law course; taught in Miss. A. & M. College, 1888-9, moved to Memphis in spring of 1889, where he has been practicing law since; married twice, first, Lillie C. LOTSPEICH<\/strong>, Feb. 11, 1891, second Mrs. Corinne MANSFIELD-FULMER<\/strong>, June 6 1907; member W.O.W. (local counsel for Sovereign Camp, Woodmen of the World, of Omaha, Neb.); member of Business Men’s Club; was Capt. of “Starkville Guards,” State Militia of Miss., holding captain’s commission at time of his removal to Memphis; member of the Second Presbyterian church, Memphis, Tenn., and has been deacon in same for a number of years (his grandfather, Robert A. Parker, deceased, was one of the founders of that church); engaged in the general practice of law, doing a business practice, and in the Chancery Court principally; author of several law articles in 2d Ed. Am. & Eng.
