Asa and Susan (Jenkins) NILES<\/strong>; maternal grandparents <strong>Sinclair David and Catherine (O&#8217;Keeffe) GERVAIS<\/strong>; his maternal grandfather was first Judge in Republic of Texas; educated in several colleges, and University of Va., graduated in medicine University City of N.Y., with degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, March 1, 1861; married <strong>Margaret HUMES<\/strong>, Sept. 21, 1865; member F. &amp; A.M. (Past Master); Democrat; served as private Co. H, 1st Miss. Cav. (Pinson&#8217;s Regiment, Armstrong&#8217;s Brigade); later served as scout and appointed Assist.
