C. &amp; St. L. Railroad; paternal grandparents <b>John and Sarah (Treanor) PERKINS<\/b>; maternal grandparents <b>William R. and Frances (Higgins) POLK<\/b>; educated at Nashville, Tenn.; connected with N. C. &amp; St. L. Railroad as engineer in early life; he has been instrumental in putting out trees at all stations on N. C. &amp; St. L. Railroad in western part of state, also parks in Union City, Martin, Huntingdon, Tenn., Hickman, Ky., and the \u201cCentennial Park,\u201d Nashville, Tenn., a great deal of the \u201cjungle\u201d in said park is composed of flowers and shrubs sent by him; \u201cOverton Park,\u201d Memphis, Tenn., was the recipient of a carload of ferns from him; he is now serving his second term as mayor of the city of Martin, Tenn., and under his management Martin laid sixteen miles of concrete walk and more than nine miles of graveled streets; he is also president of the board of education, and during his term of office succeeded in converting the six months district schools into a nine months high school; married <b>Lillian KNIGHT<\/b>, Nov. 30, 1882; Democrat; member of the M. E.
