C., May 21, 1841; Scotch-Irish descent; son of <strong>Hezekiah and Celia (Coffey) CURTIS<\/strong>; father was a farmer and trader; paternal grandparents <strong>Samuel and Sallie (Cotrell) CURTIS<\/strong>, maternal grandparents <strong>William and Anna (Boone) COFFEY<\/strong>; his maternal grandmother was the grandniece of <strong>Daniel Boone<\/strong>; received common school education; served a s private in C. S. A. during the civil war, was wounded at Chancellorsville, Va., May 3, 1863; came to Tenn. Feb. 1872, went into mercantile business and has devoted his life to merchandise, farming and stock trading; built the first house in the town of Butler, Tenn., in the year 1874; married <strong>Selma F.
