C., Feb. 20, 1834; son of <strong>Thos. P. and Rachel (Schuler) LIVINGSTON<\/strong>; English and Scotch descent; graduate of Lebanon Law School in 1857; married <strong>Tempe Jones SOMERVILLE<\/strong>, Nov. 28, 1872; in Confederate army \u201961-65; went in as Lieutenant Co.. D., 7<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. cavalry; served in company till war closed; under Gen. Forrest at Gainsville, Ala., Harrisburg and Bryce\u2019s Cross Roads; with Gen. Forrest at Johnsville, captured steamboats, battle of Corinth, Columbia; wounded Nov. 26, 1864; appointed chancery judge by Gov. Brown Aug., 1872; served on bench until Sept. 1894; appointed once by Gov. Bate, and elected four times; in case of State of Tennessee vs. M. &amp; O. R. R. taxation was granted a decree against railroad; appealed, taken to Supreme Court of U. S.
