DUKE<\/strong> Oct. 21, 1884; member Knights of Pythias, Jackson Lodge No. 45, F. &amp; A. M., Woodmen of the World, Head Consul Manager, also Past Chancellor and Representative to Grand Lodge K. of P.; former Alderman 4th Ward Jackson, Tenn., June, 1898-1900, and Mayor pro tem., Trustee of Jackson Free Library, Director and Vice-Pres. of Jackson Y. M. C. A.; formerly half owner of Jackson Daily Whig and later half owner of Jackson Daily Sun; founded Daily Democrat Sept. 27, 1910; director in the W. F.
