JONES, James Taylor<\/strong>, physician; born Jackson, Tenn., May 3, 1846; English descent; son of Amos W. and Mary E. (Womack) JONES<\/strong>; father\u2019s occupation, Methodist preacher and president of M. C. F. Institute; received academic education at West Tenn. College and at Greensboro, Ala.; graduated Washington University, Baltimore, Md., Feb. 22, 1870, with degree of M. D.; in early life was a teacher; later entered the practice of medicine; married Belle GATES<\/strong> Oct. 16, 1873; member Masons, Knights of Pythias, Elks; pres. Board of Health city of Jackson, Tenn., formerly Co. Health Officer Madison Co., Tenn.; private in Forrest Cavalry, 1864 and 1865; member of M.
