DUCKWORTH<\/strong>, paternal grandmother <strong>Elizabeth (Alexander) DUCKWORTH;<\/strong> maternal grandfather <strong>John ALEXANDER<\/strong>, maternal grandmother <strong>Sarah (Shelby) ALEXANDER<\/strong>; graduated University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (Pa.) M. D. 1866; member Masons; married <strong>T. P. CAPELL<\/strong> Dec. 1867; served four years in the war between the states, Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Major, Lieutenant-Colonel, and Colonel Seventh Tennessee Cavalry, C. S. A.; elected to Second Lieutenant and Major by his comrades, promoted to First-Lieutenant and Lieutenant-Colonel by Brig.-Gen. James R. Chalmers, commanding First Cavalry division of Forrest\u2019s cavalry corps; once wounded, once captured, both in action, 1867 [<em>sic<\/em>]; also captured Union City, Tenn. March, 1864; promoted by complimentary order for gallantry on the field in 1863; nominated for Brig. Gen. by Division Commander but declined to make application; surrendered with Regt. 7<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. Co. and paroled May 12, 1865; member of M. E.
