Harris as surgeon of the 55<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. Regiment during the civil war; paternal grandparents <strong>John<\/strong> and <strong>Sarah Ann<\/strong> <strong>(Burroughs)<\/strong> <strong>DUGGAN<\/strong>, maternal grandparents <strong>Samuel<\/strong> and <strong>Mary<\/strong> <strong>(Boaz)<\/strong> <strong>ELLIOTT<\/strong>; educated in the local schools of Bedford Co., Tenn.; graduated from Vanderbilt University, also from the University of Nashville March 1, 1885, with the degree of M.D.; began life as a farmer and afterward became a clerk and druggist at Unionville, Bedford Co., Tenn., and after graduation in medicine has continued the last named business in connection with the practice of medicine; married <strong>Nannie C.<\/strong> <strong>BLANTON<\/strong> Dec. 20, 1868; member M.P. church, F. &amp; A.M., I.O.O.F., and held various official positions in both lodges viz: Worshipful Master in Masonic, and Noble Grand in I.O.O.F., etc.; Democrat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>City: Eagleville DUGGAN, Solon Snethen, physician; born Beech Grove, Coffee Co., Tenn., Nov. 19, 1848; Scotch-Irish and English descent; son of Benjamin Frederick and Nancy (Elliott) DUGGAN; father was a physician and surgeon, who was appointed by Isham G.
