(Cage) BARRY<\/strong>; father\u2019s occupation, farming; paternal grandparents, <strong>Redmond Dillin<\/strong> and <strong>Jennie (Alexander) BARRY<\/strong>, maternal grandparents <strong>John<\/strong> and <strong>Thankful (Morgan) Cage;<\/strong> the first mentioned being a son of <strong>Major William CAGE<\/strong>, who served in the revolutionary war; and the paternal grandmother being a daughter of <strong>Maj. William ALEXANDER<\/strong>, who was a revolutionary war patriot; educated in the public schools of Sumner Co., Tenn., and graduated from Bryant and Stratton\u2019s Business College April, 1868; began life as a farmer and enlisted Aug., 1862, in the Confederate army; joined Gen. John H. Morgan\u2019s Confederate Cavalry; was wounded and captured, being imprisoned at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio, about three months; was exchanged and re-enlisted under <strong>Gen. B. W. DUKE<\/strong> of Morgan\u2019s Calvary, who then commanded the Dept. of East Tenn. and Western Va., and remained under <strong>Gen. DUKE<\/strong> until <strong>LEE<\/strong>\u2019s surrender, when he was ordered, under <strong>Gen. DUKE<\/strong>\u2019s command, to Charlotte, N. C., where he met <strong>President DAVIS<\/strong> and his cabinet, and here he was furloughed for 60 days by the Sec. of War on May 2, 1865; his command continuing on to Woodstock, where it was disbanded; married <strong>Lutie CHENAULT<\/strong>, Nov. 1, 1869; member of the Christian church; Democrat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>City: Gallatin BARRY, David Franklin, farmer; born in Sumner Co., Tenn., Jan. 8, 1846; son of David and Mary R.
